Google Wave Invites – How to get them?

Posted by Piyush Agarwal on September 30th, 2009

Well, Google Wave which has been causing raves and great ripples in the past few months is about to open its doors to just a lucky 100,000 users today, 30th September. Its driving people nuts and has a lot of anticipation and expectations attached. The Next BIG Thing in short!! :)

According to Google, Wave is help one “communicate and collaborate in real time”. If we go by google’s words Wave is surely something you cannot afford to miss on!!

But similar to how Gmail was launched, on an invite only basis which made people go crazy, it won’t be so easy to get hold of a Google Wave account. Following are the few ways you can get your invite:

  1. Having an account on the developers Sandbox preview of Wave – If you have been one of those developers who have been helping in developing Google Wave over the past months, nothing to worry, you will be among the first one to get an account for sure.
  2. You signed up early for a Google wave account – If you had signed up early when google wave was announced for an invite, then you have high chances of getting hold of an account. Registrations happened through this link.
  3. Schools and some paying users of Google Apps – Some paying users of Google Apps will get accounts of Google Wave along with some schools operating on the same.
  4. Invites from existing Wave users – So you are lucky enough to know someone having a Wave account? Great! Have him send you an invite. Wave users will be able to send invites to their friends and families else how else will one communicate and collaborate? :)

I am also working on getting an invite from somewhere. When I get one, do not worry will surely invite all my friends here at ewebbuddy.
