Bangalore Auto Union Reacts on Meter Jam 12th August

With Meter Jam gaining more momentum, it had finally come under the notice of the Bangalore Auto Union and they are taking it somewhat seriously. The first thing that baffled them was that this campaign was initiated online and they couldn’t figure out the source as to who started it. With so many newspapers talking about the 3 Mumbaikars who initiated this, this shouldn’t have been that tough. But what surprises me is that more than the issue, they were interested in finding who started this!!!?? icon biggrin Bangalore Auto Union Reacts on Meter Jam 12th August

Moving in the discussions, they talked more about the auto drivers denials rather than the tampered meters. They feel auto-drivers need to be trained and educated on the rules of Auto service. They need to be made understand that driving an auto is a public service. What ever is happening is because of lack of training! Can you really believe that…?

Meter Jam Time to say NO Bangalore Auto Union Reacts on Meter Jam 12th AugustWhat more they are planning to convince auto drivers not to deny auto on 12th August’10 and if they have to deny, they should explain the reason and help the people to catch another auto!

I have just one question here to ask the Auto Union Felllaass – This campaign is on 12th August, doesn’t mean we want 1 day of proper behaviour. The change we want to bring about is required to be instilled for a daily on basis! Will you be able to convince your auto driver brothers for that???

Meter Jam needs to be made into a Monthly or every Fortnight phenomena if we really want to bring about any change! What say??

Meter Jam – Say NO to autos and taxis on 12th August

Meter Jam

We talk about revolutions and bringing change through blogs, discussions, forums, etc but seldom do we take a step that involves some action. Here is one you can be part of without leaving your comfy chair and yet might make a difference. It’s called Meter Jam.

What is Meter Jam?

Meter Jam is a new movement, a campaign to bring about a change in faulty meters, nagging cab drivers and un-friendly rides! When they can get on strikes for hike in fares, why can’t we come on strike to make sure things are fair!Meter Jam Time to say NO Meter Jam Say NO to autos and taxis on 12th August

Its a usual thing to be denied a ride by a cab driver as per his convenience of not to take you where you are willing to go. One cannot find an auto before checking up with atleast 5-6 different autos. But this is something against the Motor Law! If the meter says ‘For Hire’, the cabbie/auto driver will have to go where-ever you want to go. If they deny, you can simply report them to the RTO customer care where they would be fined.

There are many other rules which these drivers do not follow and most have them have faulty meters. Now is the time to bring about the change by denying to be taken for a ride(literally)!

How can you be a part of this change?

It’s pretty simple. 12th August is being marked as the day for the campaign. Do not take an auto or a metered cab on this day! Simply say NO. Use the bus or hitch a ride, but do not use them.

You can also spread awareness but putting up posters, posting on FB, tweeting the event. Check their website. Let more and more people know… 22,000+ have already joined the movement but we will need much more!! May we bring the change.
