After the PayPal India issue came up yesterday, I have been hunting for online Indian webstores where I can spend my PayPal money. Another motive behind this hunt was to see if there are ways I can save my Currency conversion costs. And I am happy to let you all know that I was successful in finding some such stores.
1. Inkfruit – This is a great webstore for buying designer tees. The concept is more on the lines of “By the people, For the people”. The designer community of this site is awesome and very active. New designs are released almost every week. I had also blogged about their monsoon sale a few days back. Also, PayPal payment on this site does not involve currency conversion rates.
2. Bookscaterer – I am a book lover and am always looking for sites which have good discounts and collection of books. This site though has a limited collection of books, allows paypal payments without currency conversion rates. Most of the books are discounted as well so you save even more. There delivery is also good but customer care is not very professional.
3. Infibeam – This is like an online mall with a wide stretch of categories and things to buy. They accept paypal payments but I have generally found that the stuff listed here are bit overpriced. Still works for an option.
4. Coimbatore Mall – This mall is like infibeam but lacks great UI. They too have a wide range of products and accept paypal. Prices seemed a little high but I guess its still bearable. Do check out the store and give your views.
5. Webmall India – Another mall, good UI and lot of options. Pricing seems adequate and they accept Paypal payments, currency is converted according to the current rate so you save again.
6. Indiawithlove – This store has a wide variety of items more suitable if you are looking at sending a gift to your loved ones. Price-wise its very expensive but hello when has online gifting solutions been easy on pockets. They have direct prices in dollars so no currency conversion involved.
7. AllIndiaFlowers – Another gift store if you are interested in sending flowers/chocs/soft toys. Never experienced their service but according to another blogger ADITYA, it is NOT value for money. Still one must be aware of all the options. ![]()
8. Lynx-India – A Chandigarh based computer store for all your IT needs. I found the pricing competitive and they also have an ebay store. So you can buy your computer peripherals from here.
9. WayInfotech – Though people go for global webhosts these days, if you are looking for an Indian webhost who is reliable and very cost-effective then check-out this site. I have been using them for 3yrs now for many of my clients and have not come across even a single issue these days. Their support is pretty good as well. Hosting costs as low as Rs.875 which includes free domain. They have recently started accepting Paypal payments.
Hope, all of you find this list helpful and also the Paypal withdrawal issue is resolved soon. I will add more stores to the list as I find them, if you are aware of any do let me know.

Someone once told me, “If you gotta stay happy, stay fit!” and I said, “Ya right” but that was the end. I could not make the lazy me get up and even go on jogging early in the morning. When it comes to sports, Sleeping is my favorite sport
followed by I would say cycling.
Its been a long time since I have been cycling around coz,
a. Read para 1
b. I don’t have a bicycle.
Though there is hardly any solution for reason ‘a.’, if I would have been in US today this post would have been the answer for reason (b.). Yes, this post is a review of Makais.com, the look of which got me excited enough to go and check out the latest bicycles in town.
Before I dive into my review on how the site looks and functions, its better to understand what it is all about. As we know every business has an interesting history behind it, so does Makais which was known as MakaiBikes earlier(in 2008) when they used to deal in only Cruiser bikes. As time passed, there business boomed and on customer demand new products were added to the list.
Today they have relaunched themselves with a bigger office in California and a new name Makais.com You can read about them from the Our Story section.
Makais.com is a online ecommerce story where one can order fitness and outdoor sports goods. They have a long list of positive feedback and many satisfied customers.
Well one thing they sell is quite obvious by now, Bicycles but apart from that there are several outdoor and fitness gear lined up. They even sell unicycles and various kinds of trailers. I did not even know that such trailers existed. Apart from all the usual fitness equipments they have cool stuffs to help you with outdoor dining and even furniture.
Not only do they have such a great line-up, they are priced very low and they also offer free shipping.
Well one thing that struck me the moment I saw their website was the lack of a logo. Though one can argue that the Name written in a specific font can act as a logo but in this case I disagree. For a ecommerce site with fitness/sports in mind, I feel a lively logo is a must. Somehow its also the most important step enabling branding and recognition.
The site design overall is very simple, easy flowing and pleasant. The design keeps everything straight-forward and easy to find. Something that I would say is a plus for the site. But still the freelance designer in me says that this site can do wonders with a redesign. Something that makes the site look more inviting and fun. Its about bicycles, adventure and outdoors afterall.
The current top sellers section in the right sidebar is good and works well. The product description page works with the overall site design and feel. So, the site design works and serves the purpose but it could have been better. But the folks at Makais should for sure get a logo that identifies themselves well.
Good website if you are in U.S. and you are looking forward to buying sports goods online. They have great feedback and free shipping on offer along with competitive price. Worth a try. I would really like to get one of those Unicycles. ![]()

Hello buddies. Yes, I know I have been out of the blogging scene for the last couple of months. Been keeping very busy. But now I am back and will fire interesting posts and some new finds. One of the new finds is Fiverr.com
Well, in simple words its a freelancing site. A website where individuals offer their services, buyers buy them as desired and pay of work completion. But what makes the model interesting is that, everything on sale is for $5. Yup, also this is not like a traditional freelance site where a client posts his project details and freelancers bid. Here freelancers list there services known as ‘Gigs’ and clients can hire them as required.
More on GigsSo as I mentioned earlier a Gig is nothing but a service offered by a freelancer. The gigs are varied and some utterly crazy. Its really amazing to see what all people are ready to do for just $5. Some of them are real funny as well.
Here are the Gigs I have put on offer on the site.
That’s pretty simple. Go ahead and register on the site. Then list out your Gigs. Add details of what services you are willing to offer for $5 and submit. Once done the services will get listed with hundreds of others and you will be available for hire.
If a client comes looking for a service they need, they will hire you and pay once job done. When you create a gig, keep in mind to set a realistic delivery time, as it gives the client an idea of how much time you will take. Also, there is a feedback system followed here which helps rate services, so the work-around time matters a lot.
You can also become a client and order for any of the services. There is also a section in the sidebar where people mention what kind of services one is looking for if the same is not already available on the site. This helps individuals to connect to buyers and offer exactly what they want.
Creating an account is free. But for each Gig that is successfully completed, fiverr.com charges individualls $1.
The concept is fun, quick and interesting. And there are some really crazy things that people are ready to do for just $5. The model appeals to clients as well, as they can get small jobs done at a very low price. The design is simple, clean and appealing. But one cannot hope of making a living out of the site, as I do not feel the price is worth the work done. The site promotes cheap labor, though its upto an individual to post a Gig that defines the pricetag $5, often competition pushes them for more.
My suggestion, be a part of the site as its fun and you can provide small, quick services at a reasonable price. But whatever gig you post, please keep in mind that it should justify the price tag. Also for clients it is great that they can get work done at a low price.
Go browse, explore and see how crazy life can get!! ![]()
First of all, HAPPY HOLI to all. Its the festival of colors and I wish everyone of you a colorful life. For those unaware, Holi is an Indian festival when people apply colors on each other, forget all their worries/inhibitions and enjoy life in unison.
In my last post, I had told you about how the Paypal issue is partially resolved at this point of time. According to paypal officials, bank withdrawals will start from 3rd March’10. But until the problem is resolved completely one does need to find alternate ways. Also, this issue should make us realize that we should be prepared in future. So in this post I will be telling you about Paypal alternatives and also how to withdraw money from Paypal in the current scenario…
1. Moneybookers.com – Like Paypal, this is another service which serves for 30+ countries, India included. With low transaction rates and easy money transfer options, this is one of the best money transfer methods and a good alternative to Paypal. It allows direct withdrawals via local banks, credit card, cheque, etc.
Moneybookers also provides escrow services and lets you send money to non-moneybooker members. Like paypal, it operates on e-mail ids. Easy to use and quick signup. Join today.
2. Payoneer - This service is for those who would like to have the ease of drawing money at any point of time instantly or even to enable themselves to make purchases. Payoneer provides its account holders with cards on a monthly maintenance fee which are similar to any credit/debit cards. You can top-up the card and use it as you please. There are transaction rates involved in ATM withdrawals.
My suggestion would be to get this card and use it for emergencies. Though the maintenance fee is little high. Currently, Payoneer is issuing cards for free without any initial cost. Make the most of the offer.
You can send funds to your bank account using Xoom from your own PayPal account in less than 2-3 business days (for smaller amounts, it’s as quick as less than 24 hours).
Here’s a detailed explanation on how this works:
You can track the transaction any time by logging into Xoom via the “My Accounts” page. Xoom transfer money fast though there is a limit to how much you can transfer.

Mobile phones have changed the way we live life today. These days mobiles are not meant for only making calls but actually are used for various purposes. They come loaded with camera, video options, mp3 players, games, internet, social networking options and a lot more. As mobile devices are getting sophisticated, so are they providing opportunities for vendors to come up with various services like ringtones, music, alerts and the latest videos. This is where mDistribute.com comes in picture.
mDistribute is a video licensing site meant for mobile content providers and filmmakers. Its a marketplace where users can buy/sell video content. In their own words, the website says:
mDistribute enables mobile content buyers to instantly license premium, high quality film content for distribution to mobile devices. Using our web-based interface, filmmakers upload and set prices for their films while content buyers “browse and buy” those films with ease. All licenses on the mDistribute platform are royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licenses at this time, creating a standardized environment for the buying and selling of digital film rights.
You can also call it as a video bajar or baazar. The website is presented by goLiveMedia.
The video licensing site opens up opportunities not just for mobile content providers but also for anyone else who likes making films. Anyone can make money with the help of this platform.
Currently you can register on the site via a simple registration form either as a Filmmaker or a Buyer. Filmmakers can upload their films, set a price for license(royalty-free, non-exclusive) and reach out to a huge network of content buyers. A buyer is a content buyer for whom this platform acts as a bridge for acquiring great royalty-free content which they can use as many number of times as desired.
For Filmmakers: Register, Upload and Collect Money
For Buyers: Register, Browse and Buy License
That’s pretty simple isn’t it.
Video Quality allowed: MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format 320×240 resolution, MP3 audio, 30 frames per second.
We found the website simple, impressive and easy to use. It has a user-friendly interface and is very clear in its purpose. The concept of video licensing is new and very interesting. Its bound to pick-up. This eliminates any third parties that were involved in mobile content buy/sell earlier and makes direct interaction possible.
mDistribute is integrated with PayPal which ensures secure, efficient money transfers. The website also reviews all video submissions and ensures that only high quality and standards compliant content is available at the marketplace.
mDistribute deducts a transaction fees equivalent to 25% of the video license value which I believe is very high. But keeping in mind that there are not many players in this business right now and also that one video can be bought multiple number of times, it can build up to good money.
So all you budding filmmakers out there, wake up and earn money online the new way!

“I’m feeling lucky”, wouldn’t you like to say that sometime and feel really good? I bet you would.
Well here I am not talking about just your feel good factor but about the Google Search Feature, “I’m Feeling Lucky”. This feature has been a part of the clean and minimalistic Google Homepage for a long time. Yup, I am talking about the button right next to “Google Search” button. If you have not noticed it yet (u use Google right?
) which is a little surprising, head to www.google.com now and have a look.
Now, there may be quite a few a few of you who are aware of this feature and know what it does but I am sure there will be a big gang of ones who have no clue! Well, for the clueless start feeling lucky! ![]()
When you enter a search keyword in the textbox on Google Homepage and click on the “I’m feeling lucky” button, Google will simply take to the link Rank 1 i.e. top-most link in their search results. This means you do not have to view the Google Search results.
This can be very handy if you know exactly what you are looking for and you are sure that your keyword will generate the desired result as the top-most one.
Many of a times we do not remember correct URLs of websites, or we are simply too tired to type the whole thing. Google being homepage, we simply type the name of the website and click on Search. Next time, instead of click search, click on I’m feeling lucky. I am sure you will start feeling so..
Fun Fact: Google co-founder Sergey Brin told public radio’s Marketplace that around one percent of all Google searches goes through the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. This means that 1% of Google’s traffic doesn’t get to see Google’s advertisements, which costs the company roughly $110 million each year, which is about £67 million.
Google exec Marissa Mayer explained the reason for keeping such an expensive button:
“It’s possible to become too dry, too corporate, too much about making money. I think what’s delightful about ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ is that it reminds you there are real people here.”
So, keep in mind now when making a Google search, there are ways you can feel lucky. ![]()
