This is one update on the Amazon’s Kindle front that I have been waiting for quite some time. Have you always looked at that Apple iPad sighing and cursing Apple for selling them at such a high price? Have you always wanted to own a tablet which is reasonable on the price front, is feature packed and is not one a Chinese-iPad-Copy? Then your wait is over…
I know one can not be sure about tabs as all other players after iPad’s launch like Samsung Galaxy Tab, Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Zoom and the latest being HP TouchPad have been quite a disappointment. But this time it looks like, Amazon’s Kindle Fire has what it takes to take Apple’s warrior down. Both Apple and Amazon are unique and equal competitors keeping in mind that former created a app-store to improve device sales while the later created the device to improve store sales.
Coming back to the main agenda of this post…the new releases from Amazon – Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G and Kindle Fire.
The previous generation kindles have been an excellent companion to book lovers with its e-Ink display, exceptionally good power backup and portability. Kindle Touch series is all that with added Touch feature. No more button press is required when a tap will do the job. The device still uses e-Ink to display book content. Like its close competitors Nook and Kobo, K-touch lacks a physical keyboard and uses IR touch system.
Its slimmer, lighter and smaller than the earlier kindle with silver finishing. The complete UI has been redone to integrate touch responses. Kindle Touch is available in 2 variants, with and without 3g prices at $99 and $149 respectively. Would suggest you to pre-order this device if you are a hard-core book reader.
Amazon Kindle Fire is one of the most anticipated tabs and is touted to be the closest iPad rival. Its a 7-inch all-color android based tablet that lets you read e-books, watch movies, listen to music, browse web, stream media content and lot more. It even supports apps and games.
Yes, you will be able to play angry birds on this lil’ baby. It has 8GB internal memory and has a very responsive touch interface. With all these features, where Amazon has really hit the bulls-eye is to do with its pricing. This cool gadget is priced at just $199. Pre-orders have already started.

For Indians reading this post, the sad NEWS is that as always the products will be available in U.S. at this point of time. The best way to lay your hands over one of these would be to pre-order and getting it the country with the help of your friend in US or use one of the shop-n-ship services.
Though I love this one, I would still like to wait for a 10″ Amazon Kindle. 🙂 Amazon says, we should stay tuned!
