Airline business is one of the most competitive and challenging businesses to manage globally. Further if you are talking about airline business in India, that brings up several additional challenges around price, quality, customer satisfaction and a lot more. Based on the recent buzz on social networks by folks who book Vistara and then experience the service, looks like Tata is getting a lot of these aspects right.
What is Vistara?
According to the Wikipedia link:
Vistara is an Indian airline based in Gurgaon with its hub at Delhi-Indira Gandhi International Airport. The carrier, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, commenced operations on 9 January 2015 with its inaugural flight between Delhi and Mumbai and had carried a total of 500,000 passengers by August 2015.
Which cities does Vistara fly to or operate in today?
At the time of writing this post, Vistara was flying to 11 destinations mostly connected via Delhi as that is the hub. Surprisingly, Kolkata and Chennai are not on the list yet.
How to Book Vistara?
You can book Vistara the same way as most other Indian airlines i.e. via OTAs like GoIbibo, ClearTrip, MakeMyTrip, Yatra. Infact if you use these sites, you can even avail discounts using coupons.
Another way of booking Vistara flights is using their website directly – www.airvistara.com
Discounts and Deals on AirVistara.com?
These days discounts on airline tickets have become the norm with Spicejet doing it every now often. Vistara is also not behind. Infact they just last week closed their Happy Fare low cost ticket offer. Such offers will be rolled out regularly and the best way to be aware is by following their twitter account – @airvistara
Apart from vistara deals, you can get pricing using same hacks I shared for getting Spicejet tickets for just Rs.198
What about Frequent Flyer program of Vistara?
Frequent flyer programs are still not as common and popular in India as they are in United States. But there are a few domestic airlines like Jetairways which does offer good benefits for regulars inspiring loyalty. Vistara also is going the same way and has Club Vistara membership available for all. They keep running various opportunities to help people earn more points like getting 500 extra miles for enrolling and flying the airline within a month.
You can also get yourself a gold membership if you hold gold membership of other FF programs. The program is still at its nascent stage but looks to be designed keeping travellers in mind.
But is Vistara better than Indigo and Spicejet?
While every airline has it positives and reasons for having a following, Vistara is making all the right moves in the segment to come across as a premium airline service available at a low cost. This claim is something both Indigo and Spicejet cannot make since they just place a price game.
Looking at the images and comments being shared on Twitter, the in-flight food is top notch and the flight attendants are extremely polite, reachable and courteous.
Wow! Very impressed with the service, food quality cabin comfort & on time performance. Finger crossed @airvistara pic.twitter.com/cYqF9eJCQx

These are just few of the areas Vistara is focusing on. They even have the option of mobile boarding by just downloading and using their app.
If you have flown Vistara, do share your experience below in the comments section for others.
