Yup PlayStation Phone might sound a little odd. Duh! no, PSP is not the new acronym for PlayStation Phone! PSP was at it was, Sony’s PlayStation Portable and please you cannot call it PSP2 either…but this definitely can be the next thing to hit PlayStation lovers or rather portable gaming lovers.
A few years ago, when Nokia launched NGage, it was quite a hit as it combined gaming with a phone. Now Sony is going to come up with what can be said as the perfect jugalbandi of a phone & portable gaming device. According to the latest pictures posted by Engaget, it is pretty clear that with a good design this baby can become a rockstar.
Supposedly going to run on Android 3.0, its first version will be both excite and disappoint PSP enthusiasts. This one will sport 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and multi-touch screen in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches.
There will not be any space for memory stick but will support micro-SD cards. There’s also an elongated touch pad available. The plan is to also set-up an online marketplace so that users can buy/download games online. On twitter, folks are posting their disappointment over the missing analog keys but only time will tell how this change will fare.
In the photo below(courtesy engaget) the phone does not look that great because this is still more of a prototype and lacks any sort of skin. It is also supposed to be quite buggy at this moment. I am sure when Sony is all set to launch this, the phone will look way better loaded with features. For now, let’s wait a little more…but this sure is exciting news. 😉
Yep..this definetely need a bit of fixes and improvement, but i am sure that gonna be a huge explosion on the game market. Great post.
Somebody please confirm this is PSP2 so my heart can rest please! BTW could the middle be a dual analog touch pad thingy!
