LetsBuy.com has come up with a new way of luring consumers to their shopping portal. The initiative is known as a ‘Go Green’ initiative and is a way for consumers to get rid of their old mobile phones and laptops (working or not working). Instant quote will be provided for your used goods. Read on to know how it works but a word of caution, do not get too excited.
What is it?
LetsBuy.com is an eCommerce portal in India and they sell a wide variety of products. Their direct competitors would be infibeam.com, ebay.in and likes. ‘Go Green’ initiative is being organized with the intention of helping consumers get rid of their old mobiles and laptops.
How does it work?
Pretty simple actually. You go to green.letsbuy.com and click on get started. You will land up on a page where you will be asked to select what you want to sell and then fill-in details of your device. Based on the product details you specify the system will give you a pre-saved quote instantly. If you are happy with the quote, you can accept it.
Once you have accepted the quote and entered your communication details, a coupon of the quote value will be generated for you. Yes, do not expect receiving cash. 🙂 This coupon will be in inactive state. A courier company will contact you to ship the product to the company. The company will verify whether the product matched the description you mentioned in the first place. If it does, your coupon will be activated.
What should you remember?
Well there are quite a few things you should keep in mind:
- You will not get CASH. You will get coupons which can used only on LetsBuy.com
- If the company feels that the product does not match the description you entered, you coupon value might be decreased.
- The coupons can be redeemed only according to the below slab. For example, to use a coupon worth Rs.250, you will have to spend a minimum of Rs.1250.

The initiative is definitely green as it will help the company get some of your green (money). Though the products are good and the company is trustworthy, the initiative would prove good mainly for people with devices, not in working condition or lying absolutely unused. The quotes provided by the company is not that great and over-an-above, to use the coupon, you will have to spend 300% of the coupon value. Frankly, does not work for me.

I like the idea of it but it won’t be practical for me since I would have to pay for shipping if I opt for this. I hope that in the future, more companies will do this.
Actually, you do not have to pay the shipping for the product. Shipping of your product will be borne by the company.
